Untitled (Memorial Day)
Ten days ago I had the honor of interviewing a veteran for the first time. He served three combat tours in Iraq, lost close friends, earned a Purple Heart, learned to walk again. Last week he graduated from college. He's 28 years old. I thought of him as I made these photographs—like flags, like flesh, flowers of remembrance.
