I forget myself (I forget you)
Taken in and around Los Angeles beginning in January 2011, these photographs are inspired by the city's paradoxical density and emptiness, intimacy and alienation. I shoot mainly at dusk, drawn to the haunted relationship between natural and artificial light, and between nature and architecture. Despite tenuous threads of interconnectedness, connection fails and these landscapes and interiors remain mute. While more experimental than my previous work, to me it is no less realistic, grounded in where I live and how I experience my environment, with photographic immediacy—melancholic, exhilarated—in the passing moment.
